Deputy Director, Governance, Risk and Compliance
Tanya Dawson is the Deputy Director, Governance, Risk and Compliance in the Legal Division. Tanya joined the Commission in 2017 with more than a decade of industry experience in investment business, trust and managed companies, client accounting and compliance. She was also a former director and chair for a licensee. Since joining the Commission, Tanya has provided internal legal advice, guidance and support in a range of legal areas, including International Cooperations, legal opinions in regulatory and other subject areas, litigation and appearances before the High Court (Commercial and Civil Divisions), developing and reviewing contracts, policies and other engagements, drafting instructions and being a member of the FinTech Working Group. Today, Tanya works in governance, risk and compliance, with a focus on contracts and policy development and review, Memoranda of Understanding and other engagements, internal legal advice and opinions, governance oversight, enterprise risk management and compliance management.

  • Called to the Bar as a Barrister, Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (Virgin Islands)
  • Called to the Bar in England and Wales (not practising)
