The Banking and Fiduciary Services Division ensures that all banks and trust and corporate service providers operating in and from within the BVI comply with relevant BVI laws, international regulatory standards and established best business practices. The Division also provides supervisory oversight for all BVI licensed authorised custodians of bearer shares as well as financing and money services businesses.
The BVI has developed a modern financial infrastructure that handles the due diligence and business requirements of today's banks, trust companies, authorised custodians of bearer shares and financing and money services businesses. Primary legislation governing these service providers include the Banks and Trust Companies Act, 1990, the Company Management Act, 1990, the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001 – Aide Memoire #3 and the Financing and Money Services Act, 2009.
