Tortola, British Virgin Islands 6th February 2018 - The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (the FSC) considers it necessary to issue this public statement in order to protect the public interest, and the interests of any customers or creditors of Smiths Gore and Son;s Reserve Loan Company (the Company) and to make the general public aware that the Company has never been licensed or regulated by the FSC to carry on any type of financial services business. 
 
The details are:
 
The Company has been circulating a forged Investment Business Licence falsely purporting to be issued by the FSC to the Company, and has been connected to the website Smiths Gore and Sons Reserve Loan Firm at www.smithsgoreloan.com. The website purports to facilitate online loan services to the public. Furthermore, the Company has not been incorporated or registered within the Territory of the British Virgin Islands.
 
The public is invited to provide the FSC with any relevant information on this matter, and any other questionable entities that are purportedly operating in or from within the BVI.
 
The FSC has issued this Public Statement pursuant to Section 37A(2) of the Financial Services Commission Act, 2001.
