RE: VI GOVERNMENT STATEMENT ON 4TH ROUND MER

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – On 26 February 2024, the Government of the Virgin Islands in a statement (the Statement) announced the publication of the Virgin Islands’ Fourth Round Mutual Evaluation Report (the Report) by the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force.

The Report recognised the steps taken by the Virgin Islands to address money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing risks. The Report also made a number of recommendations geared towards augmenting the Virgin Islands’ AML.CFT/CPF system. The Government Statement confirmed that work on the identified areas was already in progress and issued a National Action Plan to steer the implementation of the recommendations.

The BVI Financial Services Commission is committed to doing its part in line with the Virgin Islands National Action Plan and has already begun to work toward implementation of the relevant recommended actions.
