BVI GOVERNMENT KICKS-OFF CONSULTATION PROCESS ON ACCESS TO BO REGISTERS

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 20 January 2025 – On Friday, 17 January 2025, the Government of the Virgin Islands by way of an official Press Release available here, launched the public consultation process which will help to instruct the finalisation of the draft policy on ‘Rights of Access to the Register of Beneficial Ownership for BVI Business Companies and Limited Partnerships’ (the Draft Policy).

The consultation is an anticipated process that follows new statutory requirements mandating that all beneficial ownership information be filed with the Registry of Corporate Affairs Division of the BVI Financial Services Commission (the Commission) via the VIRRGIN platform. The implementation of the new Beneficial Ownership Regime is a significant milestone in the Territory’s progress toward adopting international best practices and achieving greater compliance with international standards.

The Commission urges stakeholders in the BVI financial services industry, as well as members of the public, to review the Draft Policy, and to send feedback on and contributions to [email protected] no later than 28 February 2025.
