BVI FSC TO HOST SPRING MTR IN HONG KONG

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 19 December 2024 – The BVI Financial Services Commission (the Commission) has announced plans to host a Meet the Regulator (MTR) Forum in Hong Kong on Thursday, 16 January 2025.  Discussions at the MTR will mostly centre on the topic of beneficial ownership filings for entities registered in the British Virgin Islands.

During the MTR, Commission executives will outline changes to the beneficial ownership (BO) regime in the British Virgin Islands and provide an overview of the legislative amendments, and the implementation timelines for the filing of transactions.

As usual, the MTR will present the opportunity for stakeholders in the region to speak directly with senior executive management team representatives from the Commission about the new regime through the live question-and-answer segment. This interactive platform will help participants gain clarity on critical updates, maintain compliance and operational efficiency, and client service excellence.

The proposed agenda also includes the following topics:

  • Background and Rationale for Beneficial Ownership Regime
  • Operationalising the Beneficial Ownership Regime
  • Security Mechanisms and the Beneficial Ownership Regime

Beneficial ownership information filings will be available through the Commission’s flagship corporate registration system - VIRRGIN, from Thursday, 2 January 2025.

Industry stakeholders in the region are strongly encouraged to register and to attend the MTR on 16 January 2025 by scanning the QR code below.
