BVI FSC ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER PATLIAN JOHNSON
Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 18 November 2024 – Ms Patlian Johnson has been appointed to the BVI Financial Services Commission (the FSC) Board of Commissioners with effect from 1 August 2024. Commissioner Johnson, who is no stranger to the FSC, previously served as Senior Policy, Research and Statistics Officer from 2004 – 2007. Over the last 20 years Ms Johnson has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in public finance, planning, policy development, economic analysis and programme design and implementation. Her professional accomplishments include: leading public financial management reforms as Deputy Financial Secretary for Economic and Fiscal Affairs; contributing to the development of the BVI’s Recovery Plan post-hurricanes Irma and Maria; as well as the National Sustainable Development Plan, in her role as a consultant; and more recently managing the design of national programmes focused on the blue and digital economies and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the National Coordinator for the United Nations Development Programme BVI Project Office. Ms Johnson recently joined the HL Stoutt Community College as the Director of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness. She holds a Master of Science degree in Economics and Finance along with undergraduate qualifications in Economics and Accounting.
Managing Director and CEO, Mr Kenneth Baker stated “I am excited to welcome Ms Johnson to the Board of Commissioners, not only because of her vast experience in leadership and policy making, but also because her intricate knowledge via her historical connection to the FSC. Her valuable experience will aid her effective contribution to Board discussions and help to strengthen the Board as it directs the FSC’s strategic direction”.
