Launch of Money Matters BVI Website

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 7 December, 2011 – The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (the “FSC”) yesterday launched www.MoneyMattersBVI.org a new website dedicated to helping individuals make sound and well informed financial decisions. The site offers free, independent and unbiased financial information and advice that is focused on helping people understand the nuances of personal financial transactions and become better personal finance consumers.

The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (the “FSC”) yesterday launched www.MoneyMattersBVI.org a new website dedicated to helping individuals make sound and well informed financial decisions. The site offers free, independent and unbiased financial information and advice that is focused on helping people understand the nuances of personal financial transactions and become better personal finance consumers.

Managing Director of the FSC, Mr. Robert Mathavious, stated that “this website is truly a comprehensive resource that can serve as a one stop shop for critical information on managing personal financial affairs.” The site provides information on a wide array of topics including:

how to budget, save, invest, start a business, manage debt, plan for retirement and avoid fraud. It also has useful tools such as calculators and downloadable content.

MoneyMattersBVI.org is a product of the FSC’s financial literacy programme, which aims, among other things, to create a financially literate BVI populous by providing educational tools that focus on the basics of finance and how to manage money as well as general financial affairs.

“Financial literacy is an essential life skill. We want to ensure that people are equipped with the tools to make sound decisions about their financial future. Providing information that is clear,

accessible, in plain language, and available whenever the public wants it, is an essential step forward in providing the community with a proper financial literacy foundation that allows them to realise their overall financial goals.” says Mathavious.
