BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS FINANCIAL SERVICES COMMISSION ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ELECTRONIC CERTIFICATES OF GOOD STANDING

Tortola, British Virgin Islands – 4 December, 2014 – The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) is advising members of the financial services industry and the general public that effective Monday, 8 December, Certificates of Good Standing produced by the Registry of Corporate Affairs will be delivered electronically.  This new process applies to requests for Certificates of Good Standing for both BVI Business Companies and BVI Limited Partnerships.

The FSC views the electronic delivery of Certificates of Good Standing as part of its continuing efforts to improve service efficiency for persons doing business with the jurisdiction.

With Certificates of Good Standing being delivered electronically, customers locally and internationally, can now transact business in an even timelier manner by requesting that an electronic copy of their certificate is delivered directly to a third-party.

For the period, 8 December, 2014 to 31 January, 2015, when a request is made for a Certificate of Good Standing, the $25.00 transaction fee will cover the delivery of the electronic certificate and a traditional hard copy of the certificate at no extra charge.

Electronic Certificates of Good Standing will bear the same security features as traditional hard copy certificates and users may authenticate any Certificate of Good Standing that they are presented with by using the certificate authentication service on the FSC’s website at www.bvifsc.vg.

Beginning 1 February, 2015, Certificates of Good Standing will be delivered electronically as the default.  Requests for traditional hard copy certificates will be honoured at an additional cost of $25.00 per certificate.
